TBI Solicitors is helping one of the region's most promising young golfers make his mark on the European stage.

TBI has sponsored tour kit for Tom, age 22, of Nunthorpe in Middlesbrough. He began playing golf at the age of eight, and has now been playing on the Euro Pro Tour for two years. Tom has spent the winter training at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy at The Wynyard Club prior to rejoining the tour in May 2008.

Tom said: “This is the third level of competitive golf in Europe and my aim is to reach the Challenge Tour and ultimately the European Tour. For any young sportsperson, financial support enables you to make the most of each opportunity. With TBI's help I am able to pursue my ambition and will hopefully represent the North East well on the European stage.”

TBI has also supplied The Wynyard Club junior golf squad with monogrammed golf wear. From May, the squad will be competing weekly in the Durham Junior League. The Wynyard Club has more than 60 junior members with players ranging in age from 11 to 18.

Chris Mounter, director of Golf at The Wynyard Club, said: “The junior membership has grown substantially in recent years, enabling the club to assemble a competitive squad. We're optimistic that the team will have a strong chance of making the top three in this year's league. The new kit supplied by TBI means that The Wynyard Club Juniors feel smart and confident when they step out onto the course.”
