WHATEVER YOUR LEGAL NEEDS, TBI CAN ADVISE - News

Home sub menu option News

With nearly 30 years' experience serving the people of Teesdale, Brian Farrell understands the legal requirements of the community - he has spent that time gaining invaluable experience in a range of legal fields. Brian advises on matters such as civil cases, personal injury claims, conveyancing and family matters.

To many, Brian is a familiar face and someone who's been a trusted advisor whenever needed. Brian practices at TBI Solicitors on Newgate, Barnard Castle, working alongside fellow solicitors Helen Dexter, Ian Cowan and Pat Henshaw. Together they provide a full range of legal services for both private and business clients. TBI not only provides the expertise of the local team, but it also draws on the resources of three further offices as one of the region's largest law firms.

Whatever the problem, it's likely TBI will be able to help.

Brian advises engaging a legal team committed to finding a sensible, realistic solution acceptable to all parties. He says: “Legal matters can be stressful - by reaching an early solution, stress is limited and costs remain manageable.”

With civil disputes, Brian recommends seeking professional advice at the outset. An initial free 30 minute consultation can establish whether and how best to proceed, as a failed action could result in paying considerable costs. Brian also advises on personal injury claims and cautions against accepting the insurance company's offer to sort such claims internally. He says: “Insurance firms may try to promote settlement direct with the injured person. In reality the injured person could be sold short, not receiving the appropriate compensation, whilst the insurance firms reduce any payout.”

Over the last ten years, Brian has seen his family law work change. He says: “As marriage rates decline, so do divorce rates. However, the numbers of couples co-habiting are increasing, as are the number of children born to co-habiting couples. When such a relationship breaks down, legal assistance is required in the division of assets and provision for dependants. Co-habiting couples can engage a solicitor to help draw up a co-habitation agreement to avoid any complications should the relationship fail.”

Brian joined TBI Solicitors earlier in 2009. The local heritage of the firm dates back to the late 1700s with the establishment of Watsons Solicitors. TBI acquired Watsons in the mid 1980s, and has continued building on the strong Teesdale heritage, maintaining high-street offices in Barnard Castle, and aiming always to meet the needs of the local community.
