Medomsley Detention Centre

Medomsley Detention Centre Claims Solicitors

We are currently acting for a number of former inmates that were detained in Medomsley Detention Centre and Kirklevington Detention Centre that were subjected to physical and sexual abuse from prison officers.

One of the former inmates was subjected to sexual abuse on a daily basis and this continued even after he was released from the centre. We recovered £27,000 by way of compensation, a sum that will hopefully make a difference to his life.

Kirklevington Detention Centre

Kirklevington Detention Centre

Kirklevington Detention Centre was for young offenders aged between 14 to 17 years old. Similar to Medomsley Detention Centre, allegations arose from former inmates about the physical and sexual abuse they were subjected to in their short periods of detention from the prison officers.

Cleveland Police are investigating allegations from the 1970’s up to the 1990’s under ‘Operation Magnolia’.
The force said Operation Magnolia has now heard from over 400 former inmates and we understand that a case file has been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration.

Anyone who believes they are a victim and has not already contacted the police should contact Cleveland Police by telephoning 101.
