£140,000 Awarded to Former Joiner Suffering from Mesothelioma

Mr B had worked as a joiner in Newcastle for a number of years. His main duties were renewing asbestos covered walls and ceilings. He renewed the walls by cutting new sheets of asbestos with a handsaw and mixing asbestos to insulate exposed pipes. A lot of dust was created during this process and no protection was provided by his employers.

Mr B was a very fit and active man up until recently when he began to suffer flu-like symptoms. His condition didn't improve and he was referred to hospital where he was diagnosed as suffering from Mesothelioma. Our representation saw him receive £140,000 as a settlement from his former employer.

Mr S recently was awarded £25,000 due to injuries relating to asbestos.

He had worked for a number of companies including construction, plumbing and for a local water board where he was exposed to asbestos and no protective wear or warnings to the hazard were provided.
