What is Cerebral Palsy and Birth Injuries?

New born babies can suffer from health complications caused at the time of delivery or during ante-natal care.

Cerebral Palsy refers to a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and to maintain balance and posture. It is due to a non-progressive brain injury, often caused during birth 10% of those diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy suffered as a direct consequence of an injury during or immediately after birth.

The symptoms do not get worse over time, though they can change over a person's lifetime. In children it is the most commonly diagnosed motor impairment, surprisingly affecting two children out of every one thousand born with .

If your child has cerebral palsy you would be advised to consider the potential of pursuing a claim for compensation. This can be achieved successfully if it can be shown that negligence by the medical team during or after the birth caused or contributed towards your child's injury.
