However, under EU law, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is still required. Jacqui Foley, specialist in conveyancing at TBI Solicitors, said: “HIPs have been controversial since their introduction. Most people will view this as good news - the upfront cost, sometimes up to £500 before the property was even marketed, has proved unpopular. “In some cases the information will still need to be collated quickly to ensure a successful sale.
