Conveyancing - Buying or Selling a House
HIPS - Home Information Packs

The new Conservative-Lib Dem Government has announced that home sellers no longer need to provide Home Information Packs or HIPs. However, under EU law, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is still required.

Jacqui Foley, specialist in conveyancing at TBI Solicitors, said: “HIPs have been controversial since their introduction. Most people will view this as good news - the upfront cost, sometimes up to £500 before the property was even marketed, has proved unpopular.

“In some cases the information will still need to be collated quickly to ensure a successful sale. By appointing a conveyancer early in the proceedings, the seller can be well prepared, ensuring the best chance that the contract is completed in as timely a fashion as possible.”
