Industrial Asthma

Asthma can have many causes; genetic and environmental, but many people do not realise that our working conditions can often make the problem worse. Breathing problems due to working conditions are not as rare as you may think and approximately 15% of the asthma cases in the UK are as a result of Industrial Asthma, and it can take months or even years to develop.

Your employer has a duty to protect your health whilst you are at work. If you are exposed to airborne substances which are hazardous, then you employer must take steps to protect you for example by providing you with facemasks and properly ventilated working areas.

If you are suffering from asthma and/or other breathing difficulties, and you believe that your work has caused this or made the problem worse, then you may have a claim for damages against your employer. We have dealt with a number of successful claims relating to industrial asthma.
