Tilly Bailey & Irvine Law Firm Supports Teesside Scout's Dream

  • Posted

Tilly Bailey & Irvine Law Firm has given its backing to young Teesside Scout Jamie Watson in realising his dream to participate in the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.

The youngster will represent his local area as an ambassador for Cleveland Scouts in the 24th edition of the World Scout Jamboree, which is to be held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia from 22 July to 2 August 2019.

Fundraising ideas came thick and fast for Jamie and father Mark, including local gardening, community car wash, sponsored 10K and 10-mile runs, an ascent of Ben Nevis and the Boxing day dip among others.

Tilly Bailey & Irvine are no strangers to offering a hand of support to local individuals and companies, and have now also made a donation to help him see his dream through.

Jamie also received responses from the likes of Middlesbrough FC, and said: “I am very proud and privileged to have been selected to represent my local area as an ambassador for Cleveland Scouts. I am looking forward to meet with Scouts from across the world, taking time to listen and understand our cultural differences and at the same time building relationships and friendships.

“Participation in the 24th World Scout Jamboree is looking like it will be without a doubt a life-changing experience within a unique and breathtaking environment. I would like to thank Tilly Bailey & Irvine for their support in my fundraising efforts.”

Jamie applied for selection in March 2017 and attended camps during July and August, demonstrating his skills before finding out he had been selected as one of the 36 attendees from the Cleveland area. His Unit is split into ‘Scout Patrols’, Jamie selected as team leader for his group of nine (all 14-18yr-old) that will be named ‘Unit 29 – Parmos’ in recognition of the local Teesside delicacy!

It is expected to be the largest event delivered by Scouting worldwide and more than 50,000 young people and adult volunteers are expected to attend, from over 150 countries.

Everybody at Tilly, Bailey & Irvine wish Jamie the best of luck as he puts Teesside on the map in West Virginia! You can contact us on 0333 444 4422 or visit our solicitors in Stockton, Hartlepool, Wynyard and Barnard Castle.
